After much work on improving the beta version, the updated Europeana collections website is now live and available.

As the Executive Director Harry Verwayen just said “We now feel confident that we are releasing a much-improved website that is faster, easier to explore, more accessible, and offers exciting new ways to discover collections. Further improvements will be introduced in the coming months and we invite you to continue sharing your comments and thoughts on making this a superior user experience. We hope you enjoy it, and we welcome your feedback to help us make it an even better experience.”

If you are nostalgic for familiar features, the previous version of the website remains available under classic.europeana.eu.

Europeana Space Opening Conference
The core topic of the conference was how to enable a creative re-use of digital cultural content thus unlocking the business potential of cultural heritage and fostering the creation of new jobs and economic growth. A very interested audience almost fulfilled the parterre of the former theater, now conference venue. As a side activity, in the afetrnoon of the second day the registered participants could visit the Venice incubator H-Farm, an inspiring environment for creativity and technology.
An important conference about creativity and digital cultural heritage
Antonella Fresa, Technical Coordinator of Europeana Space project, says: “This is a golden opportunity for the creative industries, for the cultural institutions, for students and researchers, for anybody interested in the new scenario of digital cultural heritage. This is the occasion to learn what is happening in this sector: join us, follow us on our blog, website and social networks!”
Europeana Space Kick-off meeting
Beside the project members, participants in the meeting were the EU Officer Marcel Waletet and the deputy director of Europeana Foundation Harry Verwayen. The kick-off meeting was already the place to start the organization of the first public event of Europeana Space: the appointment is in Venice, in October 2014 with a great opening conference organized by the hosting partner Università Ca’ Foscari.
