The UNESCO PERSIST Project has recently launched the UNESCO/PERSIST Guidelines for the selection of digital heritage for long-term preservation. The Guidelines, drafted with a group of seven authors from the libraries, archives and museums world, aim to provide a starting point for institutions (museums, archives and libraries) to draft their own digital heritage selection policy. Version 0.14 features Transparency and Unicode character map validation in PDF/A-2 levels B and U. This is the first release of the final design phase which began on 19 April following the PREFORMA Project EC review at the Open Source Workshop. The seminar comprised political updates by representatives from the European Parliament and the European Commission, the presentation of policy recommendations from the RICHES project and Round Table / World cafè style discussions aimed at providing ‘joined-up’ policy recommendations to be used in the definition of the H2020 work programme for 2018-2020.
