Explore the story of AI with the Museum of Artificial Intelligence




The Museum of Artificial Intelligence is a free online museum that traces the history of AI from early ideas about logic and self-moving machines to today's language models. The visit combines history, evidence, curatorial interpretation and interactive experiments, with a documented source trail for every exhibit.

The scope of the Museum covers the history and workings of artificial intelligence, its social and ethical consequences, the history of AI in Greece, and possible future developments. The project also makes a clear distinction between historical evidence, reconstruction, curatorial interpretation and future uncertainty.

The Museum currently includes:

  • 90 documented exhibits in five different languages (Greek, English, French, Spanish and German), each with its own page, sources, rights information and a clear label: historical evidence, reconstruction, artistic rendering or curatorial interpretation.

  • 9 Rooms are dedicated to the history of AI and how we got there from the Greek prehistory of ideas  to the first LLMs, ethics, AI in Greece and the future of AI. Thematic galleries: AI Around the World, AI in Cinema, and AI Today (dated, sourced and with stated limits of certainty).

  • 3D visit of every room, to be be explored in a three-dimensional space, alongside the classic route.

  • Lab, a collection of hands-on experiments that run entirely on browser (word map, tiny classifier, tokens and attention, A* pathfinding, bias experiment, restoring an ancient inscription and more).

  • Evidence experiences: where it is possible to replay the 1997 Deep Blue game, work with historical sources, and curate your own small exhibition.

  • "Ask the Museum", with answers drawn only from the collection and its recorded sources.

  • Visitor passport and progress, stored only on the visitor's device.

The Museum has been developed independently, without institutional funding or a paid development team. AI tools have been used extensively as development assistants for coding, prototyping, testing and revision, while research direction, source checking, curatorial decisions and final responsibility remain human. The Museum of AI has also recently been included in the Projects section of the NEMO Community Resource Hub.
