L’Aquila come cantiere per la ricostruzione




L'Aquila, the Italian city which suffered so hard from the 2009 earthquake and became one symbol of strength and reconstruction, hosted a very important seminar to explore how culture and knowledge can contribute to the development of city-areas, and specifically how culture can be preserved and valorized to help L'Aquila's reconstruction.

The seminar was the second step of a process that already begun for L'Aquila: in December 2012, in facts, the city hosted the opening of a travelling exhibition "Memoria/Futuro -Technologies for Cultural Heritage" promoted as part of the Concertation Table between the Italian Ministries for Research and Education (MIUR) and Cultural Heritage and Activities (MIBAC).

The meeting of February 7th aims to be an opportunity to support the L'Aquila site through a tighter collaboration between the worlds of culture and research, to develop new technologies in the field of protection and conservation of cultural heritage.

The meeting is divided into three sessions. In the first "The production of culture: protection and conservation" will be presented some of the latest studies for the restoration and conservation of heritage.
The second session "From the production of culture to the production of knowledge" will investigate the process that allows culture and knowledge to be a collective wealth, widespread, for collective culture and social cohesion.
Finally, in the third session on "Culture and knowledge for quality of life" the focus will be centered on those technologies that make the culture become quality of life, through innovative services to citizens, tourists and, more generally, city users.
