CIDOC 2021: “Symbiosis of Tradition and Digital Technology”

Share

CIDOC 2021 conference “Symbiosis of Tradition and Digital Technology” will set it’s focus on three main subjects: “Strategic Planning”, “The Future of Documentation” and “A Wonderland of Digital Technology”.

The conference taking place from 6 to 10 September 2021 is a hybrid conference and organised the National Heritage Board of Estonia in cooperation with ICOM Estonia. the selected location is Maarjamäe History Centre in Tallinn, which combines the picturesque Maarjamäe Palace with the modern surroundings of the Estonian Film Museum.

The strands of the conference are deliberately broad to accommodate sessions with a variety of viewpoints and topics. Technology has moved from being a challenge for a museum, to being an enabler, to becoming an integral part of museum experience. Emerging technologies allow and compel us to adopt new ways of working, but we do so within the frame of traditional planning methods like strategies and roadmaps.

How can we best exploit both of these and reap the benefits of their symbiosis?
