The vocabulary has been completed in 12 languages and consists of over 500 concepts in three facets –photographic technique, photographic practice and keywords – that are structured in a multifaceted, hierarchical way. Discussions are on-going with other projects, in particular Linked Heritage, for improvement and further development of the EuropeanaPhotography Vocabulary, that can be a starting point for other valuable multilingual tools to enrich digitization activities (both for photography and for other cultural heritage). As digital technology evolves, 3D data is increasingly preferred as a method of preserving cultural heritage artifacts. It provides an easy way to get in touch with them and significantly reduces the need for physical storage space, offering to museums a portable and accessible platform to exchange information and to researchers the possibility to easily browse and review the materials. Project Paperclip is a photography exhibit that uses real-time processed reactive soundscapes. The concept was imagined by the Portuguese creative Nuno Serrão, and by including the auditory canal, it tries to transport visitors to a state that gives them a more immersive interpretation of the 16 photographs. The Vrouw Maria was a 18th century Dutch vessel, headed for Saint-Petersburg, that sank in Finnish waters. The shipwreck had been studied in many national and international projects: now, an interactive, virtual reality simulation has been created for an exhibition at the Maritime Museum of Finland. Streaming Museum is on-site installations and on-line streaming performances. “Emotion Forecast” and “Occupy Wall Screens” are the birthday-exhibition of the Museum. The installation was at Big Screen Plaza in New York City, and will be displayed for the whole 2012 in the Streaming Museum website. Continue reading
