PREFORMA Starts Testing Phase

The third phase of the public PCP launched by PREFORMA started on 16 February 2017, with the virtual kick-off meeting of the testing phase. After an analysis of the results achieved and of the software released by the three suppliers that completed the prototyping phase in January 2017, the PREFORMA Evaluation Committee decided to award all the three consortia with a new contract. No Time to Wait: Standardizing FFV1 and MKV for Preservation

Check out the results of the symposium organised In Berlin in conjunction with IETF’s 96th meeting and hosted by Deutsche Kinemathek, Zuse Institute Berlin, and MediaArea. The symposium brought together 70+ audiovisual archivists, technologists and format designers with a focus on the standardization of a preservation-grade audiovisual file format combination package. Between 20 and 30 January 2016, a team of representatives of the PREFORMA project visited the three consortia that are currently working in the prototyping phase: veraPDF, Easy Innova and MediaArea.net. Updates on MediaConch: October release and upcoming events

October’s release of MediaConch (v15.10) features a brand new implementation checker concentrating on Matroska and EBML conformance checks, as well as several illustrative policy sets allowing users to carry out conformance checking on preservation master files, among other workflows. Dave Rice and Ashley Blewer will be presenting on MediaConch at the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Conference in Portland, OR, USA (20 Nov). Continue reading
