The latest version of veraPDF is now available for download in the PREFORMA Open Source Portal. veraPDF is building the definitive, file-format validator for all parts and conformance levels of ISO 19005 (PDF/A). This version contains several feature enhancements (conformance checker, command line, and test corpus) as well as some bug fixes. This marks the end of the PREFORMA project’s first re-design phase. Benjamin Yousefi represented the PREFORMA project at the AppHub SQuAT Fest 2016. As main recommendation, PREFORMA should encourage its suppliers to use AppHub as an additional channel to distribute the conformance checkers, and to evaluate and incorporate the code quality and OSS risk management documents and best practices developed by the AppHub community. Version 0.8 is the latest release of veraPDF conformance checker for PDF/A. It features a re-designed command line interface (CLI) for validation and feature extraction. All interested users are invited to download and test the software from the PREFORMA Open Source Portal and report possible problems, issues or suggestions to the project’s GitHub issue tracker. A new release of DPF Manager is now available for download in the PREFORMA Open Source Portal. DPF Manager is an application and a framework designed to allow end users and developers to gain full control over the technical properties and structure of TIFF images intended for Long Term Preservation. October’s release of MediaConch (v15.10) features a brand new implementation checker concentrating on Matroska and EBML conformance checks, as well as several illustrative policy sets allowing users to carry out conformance checking on preservation master files, among other workflows. A new agreement has been signed between PREFORMA (represented by the Project Coordinator Borje Justrell) and Europeana Space (represented by the Technical Coordinator Antonella Fresa). The main objective of this agreement is the integration of the open source tools developed in PREFORMA (that control if a file complies with standard specifications and with other acceptance criteria specified by memory institutions) in the Technical Space of Europeana Space.
