PREFORMA presented at FIAT/IFTA 2015

Bert Lemmens from PACKED, Peter Bubestinger from the Austrian Mediathek and Tessa Fallon from MediaArea presented the PREFORMA project, the work done towads the adoption and standardisation of FFv1 as a digital preservation format and MediaConch, at the FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2015. The Conference took place in Vienna from October 7th until October 10th 2015 and this year theme was: “Audiovisual Culture, a bridge to the future”. Continue reading

The next JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) and VCEG (Video Coding Experts Group) meeting, hosted by the Poznań University of Technology, will take place in Warsaw on 22-26 June 2015, at the Marriott Hotel Warsaw. The groups are in charge of the development of international standards for still image coding, video coding and compression, decompression, processing and coded representation of moving pictures plus audio. World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2014

The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is a commemoration of the adoption, in 1980 by the 21st General Conference, of the Recommendation for the Safeguarding and Preservation of Moving Images. The World Day provides an occasion to raise general awareness of the need to take urgent measures and to acknowledge the importance of audiovisual documents.
