Viggiano, Great Mountain

In collaboration with SLU, Uppsala University and Lund UniversityDarteq organises an international workshop on 3D GIS and Augmented Reality, being held in Viggiano (Potenza), South Italy, on 28-30 July 2015 (English language) and 1-3 August 2015 (Italian language).

With this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of 3D GIS and Augmented Reality (AR). They will work in the historical centre of Viggiano, a small village of the Basilicata Region with an old and fascinating history. The urban structure is medieval but  numerous stone portals from the XIX century are still preserved. Most of them feature wonderful keystones, with figures and dates of construction.

DarteqCompleting the workshop, the participants will gain transferable skills in GIS and Augmented Reality (AR), enabling them to create 3D maps, 3D models of some portals and keystones, Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and AR solutions (in particular, the final workshop session will be devoted to creating a simple AR app by using the material produced during the three working days.

Fee and application procedure

A maximum of 20 participants (20 for the English version and 20 for the Italian version) will be selected based upon the criteria “first come-first serve”.

The registration fee includes lecture material, software, welcome party and final certificate (Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the participation fee):

  • Early Bird (16% discount – 40% refundable – max 5) – 294 Euro
  • Normal price (50% refundable) – 350 Euro

Viggiano (Potenza) – Basilicata Region – South Italy.

Viggiano is a town in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. The field work will be held in the historical centre. Lectures and workshops will be held at the lecture hall of Darteq.
